22. Christian Ponder, QB, Florida State, R-Jr., 6-2, 217

Why he's here: Because in his first season as a starting quarterback, Ponder led the Noles to a nine-win season for the first time since 2004, and he should be even better the second time around. Ponder has an excellent grasp of the playbook to the point he knows what play offensive coordinator Jimbo Fisher is going to call next, and his teammates look to him for the answers.

Ponder also likes to run and isn't afraid to get hit. He was the first FSU quarterback to run for 400 yards in a season since Charlie Ward ran for 504 in 1992. Not bad company. Ponder scored four rushing touchdowns last year, but he needs to make smarter passes. Ponder completed 55.7 percent of his passes for 2,006 yards, 14 touchdowns and 13 interceptions last year. If FSU can find some dependable receivers to help him out, Ponder's efficiency rating of 115 should improve.
